November Wrap Up

This post is super late, so sorry! But here are the 5 books I read in the month of November:

Because when you love someone, you owe it to them to help them be the best version of themselves that they can be

4.5/5 stars

Colleen Hoover is one of those Authors in my opinion that is constantly capable of writing epic love stories. I loved this book and I though the characters were amazing!

Usually in most books, I can smell a plot-twist from a mile away but with this one I was completely blind-sided which I loved.  The entire plot was simply brilliant and the only reason that I didn’t give it full stars is because I initially had a problem with one of the main characters (Ben) at the start of the book.

Love Story by Erich Segal

What can you say about a twenty-five-year-old girl who died?
That she was beautiful. And brilliant.
That she loved Mozart and Bach.
And the Beatles.
And me.

4/5 stars

The above quote is the blurb at the back of the book; it was just so poetic that I was immediately compelled to buy it.

This book as you can see from the blurb, literally starts of by foretelling the end. However, knowing this did not make the ending of this beautiful love story hurt any less.

Jenny Cavilleri was a character with wit and “spunk” & it is impossible not to adore her. & Oliver Barret, though incredibly stubborn was pretty darn loveable too. The only thing I disliked about this book was the language and occasional derogatory remarks towards Jenny but I’ll have to overlook that and chuck it up to the era it was written in.

I watched the movie right after I finished reading the book and I loved it just as much.

Highly Illogical Behaviour by John Corey Whaley

4.5/5 stars

This was an amazing, spectacular, lovely, heart-melting, astounding, magnificent, delightful and wonderful book. If I could think up any more adjectives to use to describe how brilliant this books was, I would use them. However, my vocabulary appears to be limited.

Batwoman: Elegy by Greg Rucka

3.5/5 stars

I’m kind of obsessed with the Bat family but I didn’t know much about Kate Kane aka Batwoman, so I picked up this gem at my local library.

Kate’s background is definitely interesting; and even though she wars the bat symbol, she kind of does her own thing which is pretty cool.

Although I enjoyed reading this, I felt it took a while for the story to develop which is why I gave it a 3.5 star rating.

This Adventure Ends by Emma Mills

“Maybe there are people who love someone so much that when they lose them, they never want to be with anyone else again. But maybe there are people who love someone so much that it makes them want to find that kind of love again.”

5/5 stars

I was almost starting to think that I only gave 5 stars to books that made me cry but I’ll have you know that not a single tear was shed while reading this book.

I just loved everything about this book. I loved the entire group: Sloane, Remy, Vera, Gabe. Sloane’s Dad! Even Frank!

The writing in this book flowed so well and I loved how Emma Mills incorporated just basic modern day stuff without making it seem corny. Stuff like Netflix, Fanfic, I guess terminology and slangs that teenagers/young adults actually use these days. The conversations between the characters in this book were just so natural, honestly.

I LOVED the humour. I laughed out loud a lot of times while reading this book. There was a section in the book where Sloane crashed her bike and went flying off of it. It was pretty bad. But her first thought was:

“I don’t black out. People in books and movies are always blacking out. I take a real issue with Nancy Drew books, because Nancy sustained more head injuries than all of the NFL combined, and she never once went for a CT scan”

(Maybe I laughed so hard because I actually read all the Nancy Drew books and Nancy really did black out in like every book haha).

There weren’t any huge plot twists or majorly drama filled relationships etc but I just could not put this book down.

Honestly, it was just such a great read!
