From the pages to the small screen

The holidays are coming up and most of our favourite tv shows are going on break; so I thought I would do a tv related post.

There are quite a few books/book series currently being made into tv series! I think its always exciting/nerve racking to find out some of your favourite characters will be coming to life.

Here are my top 3  books/book series that I am excited to see make the transformation from the pages to the small screen:

1.  Confess by Colleen Hoover

confess

Let me just start by saying, if you love romance ? and you have never read a Colleen Hoover book? What are you doing? Seriously, Colleen Hoover does such an amazing job of writing spectacular ‘New Adult’ romance stories and if you’ve never read any of her books; I highly recommend checking her out.

Confess is a deeply moving story about love and family and secrets. Auburn Reed is a girl who has had a really difficult past and has worked really hard to regain control of her life. Owen Gentry himself also has a past that has left him guarded and secretive. However; when Auburn and Owen meet; there is an instant connection and both of them find themselves falling very hard and very fast. But what other secrets does Own have up his sleeve? & maybe their meeting wasn’t a coincidence at all? maybe they’ve been connected all along?

Again, I am so excited for this to be turned into a tv series! Auburn Reed will be played by Katie Leclerc (from Switched at Birth) and Owen Gentry will be played by Ryan Cooper (total babe!).

Also, a big congratulations to Colleen Hoover for winning the Best Romance category with It Ends With Us in the 2016 Goodreads Choice Awards.

2.  Famous in Love by Rebecca Serle

famous-in-love

I haven’t actually read this series but I have been hearing a lot of talk about it; especially since filming began.

Famous in Love is a coming of age romance that centers around Paige Townsen; a young girl who gets cast in a major movie adaptation of a popular book. Her life changes over night and soon she is caught in a love triangle between her co-stars Rainer Devon and Jordan Wilder

There are currently two books in the series; the second being “Truly, Madly, Famously”. There is a third book in the works but as of right now it currently has no title or release date.

Paige Townsen will be played by actress Bella Thorne from Shake it Up on the Disney Channel and from the movie adaptation of The Duff.

Rainer Devon will be played by Carter Jenkins (from Valentine’s Day) and Jordan Wilder by Keith Powers from the comedy series ‘Faking It’ (another total babe!).

I am probably going to try and read this book before the tv series starts airing but even though I haven’t read it; it sounds pretty promising and I am looking forward to watching it!

3. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

13-reasons-why

Thirteen Reasons Why is about the life and death of Hannah Baker. Hannah Baker was a high school student who killed herself after being a target of bullying. However before she dies; she made a list of thirteen reasons as to why she decided to take her life.

In comes Clay Jensen, Clay Jensen had always had a crush on Hannah Baker and one day when he returns home from school to a strange package full of old cassette tapes recorded by a very dead Hannah Baker; it leads him to spend the night walking all over town; following Hannah’s recorded instructions and ultimately finding out the main reasons as to  why Hannah Baker committed suicide.

Personally, I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I wanted to. I believe I gave it a 2/5 star rating. However, I can see how this would make a great tv series and so I am definitely looking forward to watching it. It also helps that it has an amazing cast:

Hannah Baker will be played by Katherine Langford and Clay Jensen will be played by Dylan Minnette (Goosebumps, Don’t Breathe). Also, the series is set to be produced by Selena Gomez and will debut on Netflix as a Netflix Original series.

Which other  book adapted tv series are you currently loving ?
