November Wrap-Up!

I can’t believe it’s officially been a year since I  posted my first Wrap-Up! For the month of November I read only 2 books:

The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

My rating: 3/5 stars

the unexpected everything

This book was originally on my June reading list and for some reason I was just never able to get around to reading it. I had borrowed it from the library and kept renewing it online. The week before Halloween, I logged onto my library account, getting ready to renew the book again, “Book Renewed” SUCCESS, except a little message in red followed: “Please be aware you have reached your limit for renewals of this book”. So I had no choice, I had held this book hostage for 4 months and it was now time to finally read it.

The Unexpected Everything, concludes my quest to read every Morgan Matson book. I’ve always liked Matson’s books because she knows how to deliver stories with equally strong friendships and romance. This is a perfect summer read, I had no business reading this in November, I really should have just read it when I first picked it up in June.

This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab

My rating: 3.75/5 stars

this savage song

I feel like the entire YA community has read this book, so this one’s been on my radar for the longest time.

“Sunai Sunai eyes like coal. Sing you a song and steal your soul”.

Part of the reason I wanted to read this was for this ‘monster’. The concept that a monster could steal your soul just by singing or playing a musical instrument was just absolutely intriguing to me.

However, it’s pretty obvious early on that ‘August Flynn’ our dominant Sunai is anything but a monster. Sweet, brave, caring, August is such a dream. The pacing in the story was perfect, and the development of Kate & August’s friendship was executed really well.

This Savage Song was a very interesting read from start to finish. A page turner for sure.
