Review: Magnolia Parks by Jessa Hastings

My rating: 3.5/5 stars
Genre: Fiction, Romance

“How many loves do you get in a life time?”

Magnolia Parks

I finally gave in to starting this series after seeing so much hype around it on TikTok.

Welcome to the world of Magnolia Parks, filled with filthy rich, young socialites who screw each other over. The first book in this series is centered around Magnolia and BJ Ballentine. Right off the bat, you can tell there is a deep romantic history between these two, despite the cheating and constant breaking up, they can’t stay away from each other. It’s giving TOXIC!

If this sounds familiar to another popular series about wealthy, young, socialites (Gossip Girl), you’re not wrong to draw that comparison. In fact, it’s one of the reasons I picked it up. I do think that’s as far as the similarity goes for me, as of right now anyways. Overall, I found this book to be seriously lacking in plot. It was 80% dialogue, nothing really ever happens except the repeated cycle of Magnolia and BJ trying to one-up each other.

That being said, I did give it a 3.5 rating which means I liked it.

Once you get used to the never ending dialogue, it is easier to enjoy albeit super repetitive. For the most part, I liked it for the secondary characters like Christian and Tom England, even Julian who was mentioned for all of 2 minutes lol. The possibility of learning more about some of these characters is what kept me hooked.

At the moment, I’m willing to give the series a chance because I feel there are way more interesting characters than Magnolia and BJ.

Let me know if you’ve read this series and if it gets any better!!..or worse

xoxo
